The tender documentation for Traffic Package 4 is now available.
The Norwegian Railway Directorate issued the tender documentation for Traffic Package 4 at the beginning of March. At Mantena, the bid preparation is now in full swing.
Traffic Package 4 is extensive, with a comprehensive train service impacting many travelers, including both local and intercity trains on highly trafficked routes. The train services in this package are important not only for many private individuals but also for the business sector in Eastern Norway.
Experienced Total Supplier
As expected, there are many operators interested in the traffic package. Acting CEO of Mantena, Vidar Leirvik, is confident that Mantena, together with the various bidders, will deliver comprehensive offers that meet the requirements in the tender documentation.

Trains in Traffic Package 4
The contract operation will start with the timetable change in 2023 and will last for ten years, with an option for an extension of up to two years. The traffic package includes the following round-trip train services:
- Local train (L-train) Spikkestad/Asker – Lillestrøm
- Local train (L-train) Stabekk/Oslo S – Ski
- Regional train (R-train) Oslo S – Ski
- Regional train (R-train) Stabekk – Moss
- Regional train (R-train) Oslo S – Mysen/Rakkestad
- Regional train (R-train) Oslo S – Hakadal/Jaren
- Regional express train (RE-train) Oslo S – Halden
- Regional express train (RE-train) Oslo S – Gjøvik
Major Changes
During the contract period, significant changes will occur on the routes included in the traffic package, including the introduction of ERTMS (European Rail Traffic Management System) and new type 77 trains that will replace type 69.
In addition, the Follobanen will be completed with full functionality and a halved travel time from Ski to Oslo. Train types from the start will be 72, 69, 75, 75II, 74, and 73B.
