After a long period of preparations involving planning and testing, the new Mantena workshop for the Øresund trains was finally opened on Saint Lucy's Day, December 13th.
The workshop is Sweden’s most modern train workshop and is located in Hässleholm, Skåne. With a total of 26,000 square meters and five buildings that include a workshop, offices, cleaning facilities, underfloor wheel lathe, combination hall, and a receiving station with a cleaning platform, everything is in place to ensure optimal maintenance and cleaning of the trains.
Together with state-of-the-art technology and equipment, the workshop’s central location in the Øresund train traffic system will help ensure that the traffic with the Øresund trains runs smoothly.
Strong Team in Place
A major part of the work since the contract was signed has been recruiting new employees. In recent months, new train technicians, fault locators, team leaders, shunters, warehouse staff, planners, and managers have all been recruited.
Now, nearly one hundred Mantena employees have finally started delivering one of the absolute largest maintenance contracts for trains in the Nordic region. The contract lasts for eight years. The trains designated as X31, included in the contract, operate the railway network from Copenhagen in Denmark to, among other places, Malmö and Kalmar in Sweden, an area with approximately 5 million inhabitants.
Successful Start-Up
– We have been waiting a long time for this opening. Now we are relieved and pleased to finally be underway and that everything has gone as planned at the start.
