The UN's Sustainable Development Goals have led all major companies in recent years to specify and operationalize their efforts toward the environment and sustainability. The 17 goals address more than just the environment, as they also cover important topics such as health, quality of life, education, gender equality, and responsible consumption/production.
Sustainability has many perspectives and impacts Mantena's work in a variety of ways.
The broader perspective
Our core business – optimizing the maintenance of trains and rolling stock – is directly related to Sustainable Development Goal 9 “Industry, Innovation and Infrastructure” and Goal 11 “Sustainable Cities and Communities”. The concrete efforts to help achieve these goals concern the broader perspective in our work, namely working towards sustainable, safe, and efficient transport systems in society.
At Mantena, we always have a number of projects ongoing with a focus on innovation and development. In these projects, the goal is to develop ever-improving maintenance methods, such as the important work on new maintenance programs to extend the lifecycle and performance of vehicles and components. Research and innovation are, in other words, an essential part of our effort to enhance the sustainability of the industry.
Focus on key areas
Through our employees' daily efforts in key areas such as preventive working environment initiatives, HSE, risk management, and especially waste and chemical management, we also contribute concretely to Sustainable Development Goal 3 “Good Health and Well-being” and Goal 12 “Responsible Consumption and Production”.
