Mälartåg
Mälartåg has won the maintenance contract for Mälardalen traffic in Sweden on behalf of SJ AB. The assignment concerns the maintenance of the new double-decker (Dosto) produced by Stadler.
The agreement between Mantena and SJ AB starts in 2019 with an option until December 2024.
– With this assignment, we have regained approximately 2/3 of the train volume we lost when we lost the contract for Pågatågen,” says Fredrik Hultgren, Head of Bids.
The maintenance includes 33 ER1s (Stadler Dosto – 4-car double-decker) with the possibility of an additional eight option trains.
The daily maintenance will be carried out in a newly built workshop in Eskilstuna, which is scheduled for completion in autumn 2018. Recruitment of personnel for the assignment will take place during the autumn for start in January 2019. The first vehicle will be delivered in spring 2019, with traffic planning scheduled during the summer.
If the options are exercised and the agreement lasts until December 2024, the assignment represents a volume of 10 million kilometers per year.
– It has been a long tender process with tough competition, but now we are back on the winning track in Sweden, says a very satisfied CEO Fredrik Thulin.
