Mantena will maintain the trains in southern Sweden and the Øresund area

It is with pride and humility that Mantena has signed a cooperation agreement with SJ as the total provider of maintenance under the contract SJ has been awarded for the operation of the Øresund train.

The Øresund contract is one of the largest train maintenance contracts in the Nordic region. It is valid for eight years starting in December 2020. There are 111 trains designated as X31 running on the rail network from Copenhagen in Denmark to, among other places, Malmö and Kalmar in Sweden, an area with approximately 5 million inhabitants.

We greatly appreciate the trust placed in us by SJ, and the contract introduces a completely new way of cooperating where, together with SJ, we will ensure increased punctuality and customer satisfaction in the years ahead. The contract is very important for Mantena’s development and efforts in the Nordic region as an independent maintenance provider, says CEO Kjetil Hovland.

The mobilization for start-up is well underway at the newly constructed workshop in Hässleholm. Fredrik Hultgren, who has been Mantena’s tender manager, will initially lead the mobilization work from our side, where recruiting around 100 people along with finalizing Sweden’s most modern workshop will be among the key tasks.

The workshop covers 26,000 square meters and is designed for optimal performance of maintenance and cleaning of the trains. The workshop is centrally located in the traffic system and consists of five buildings housing the workshop itself, office, cleaning facility, under-floor lathe, combination hall, and reception station with cleaning platform.
