A new era has begun for the maintenance of construction machinery at Mantena. Mantena has moved out of the historic workshop facilities in Hamar and into modern facilities at Stange, and we have established a larger base with track access at Grorud in Oslo.
After 162 years of continuous operation, the train workshop in Hamar closed its doors for the last time this spring. The workshop has been a cornerstone in railway history, and many look back on this closure with nostalgia.
– At the same time, this also marks the beginning of a new chapter for Mantena and all our employees who work to keep the construction machinery on track year-round, says Contract Manager Anita Rasch.
New locations for construction machinery are Stange and Grorud
The maintenance work requiring track access is now established at Grorud. Here, efforts have been ongoing for some time to refurbish old workshop facilities to deliver first-class maintenance. Simultaneously, Mantena has established a base at Stange (south of Hamar) for the company’s mobile teams.
– The workshop at Stange is not connected to the railway network, but there are still a number of maintenance tasks that can be performed here in a modern and efficient workshop, explains Rasch.
A centre of expertise for rail-bound work machines.
Mantena provides services within general maintenance, modifications, and accident repairs. In addition, we have mobile teams that are available when customer needs arise and are dispatched wherever the equipment is located. We also offer emergency response services.
– This is a highly popular service that ensures maximum uptime for the customer's equipment, says Contract Manager Anita Rasch.
In addition to traditional maintenance services, Mantena also offers technical services. An example is the TKF inspection, the “MOT inspection” for rail-bound machines and wagons. All railway vehicles that are to operate on Bane NOR’s network must have a material certificate issued after a technical inspection. Mantena performs this service on behalf of Bane NOR, and the inspections take place both domestically and internationally.

As commercial manager, Svein Ole Bakken points out that Mantena’s maintenance services are about more than just delivering technical work.
– It is about understanding the customer’s needs and ensuring they receive an outstanding customer experience every time. Customers should feel that their profitability improves through the deliveries we help them with, so they can win new contracts in the long term. Therefore, it is important to understand the customer’s needs and the willingness to provide exceptionally good service.
Contract Manager Anita Rasch also emphasizes the value of the close relationships that have been built up over the years. Whether in the workshops or out in the field, Mantena’s employees meet customers face-to-face, and these relationships create a deep understanding of customer needs.
